Divine Intervention

In 2006 I worked with Robbie Thorpe to create the below crest, titled “Divine Intervention”. We made it in Melbourne in the lead up to the Commonwealth (Stolenwealth) Games, and the Queens visit.

This crest symbolises the acknowledgement of Indigenous Law in Australia. Lightening strikes igniting Indigenous Law represented by fire amongst the wattle branches, and in turn freeing the kangaroo and emu. The kangaroo and the emu then warm themselves by the fire.

Robbie would tell the story better..

Painting in the Sun

A fun day painting in the sun a few weeks back.

“X marks the spot.”

Interesting collaboration with Monster from France. Someone had tagged on top of his piece, as he had gone over someone else’s piece. The people who had gone over his work even included the sketch of the piece that existed below (seen just on the right of this photo), I was told the piece was actually by Trance, the much loved Melbourne graffiti writer who passed away several years back. Anyway, after talking with other writers who knew the space well, I was given permission to paint on top. And this is the result :).

Real fun random collaboration with me mate Maka, in the courtyard at a real friendly cafe with a sweet caravan.

Messy Old Walls, part II

Some more favourites from around Collingwood…

Old doorway, I reckon a lot of this is at least ten years old.

Layered wall, Wellington St. Sad to see what looks like a demolition team moving in on this much treasured ruin of a building.

“Sweep Before Your Own Door” – Historic Anarchism T-Shirts

I’ve just printed some T-shirts with me good mates at While You Sleep.

The first two feature posters which were printed on a hand-made cut-out wooden fount and tobacco-tin press by pioneering anarchist activist and prolific graffiti artist J.A. Andrews in Sydney in 1892! Such amazing spirited words and designs. I thought I’d help spread the message, over a hundred years later….

Below: “Anarchism” and “Anarchy”, Sizes S/M/L/XL

“We’re the Only Ones We’ve Got”

Plates (after printing) for new print I’m working on at the moment which I hope to release soon. The working title is “We’re the Only Ones We’ve Got”, based on my old favourite jumper from when I was a kid with the screenprinted image of the Earth from space with the words “It’s the Only One We’ve Got” underneath.

“We’re the Only Ones We’ve Got.” Plate One.
